Martyn Family Endowed Business Scholarship
Jay and Lynda Martyn

Type: Endowed
Donor: Jay and Lynda Martyn
Established: 2008
The Jay and Lynda Martyn Endowed Business Scholarship was created Jay and Lynda Martyn in honor of their daughter, Allison Kay Martyn, who graduated, cum laude, from John Brown University in 2005 with a business degree. Allison is an active alumna who was very involved in extracurricular activities as a student, including the student government association, iLead, cheerleading, passion groups, orientation, prison ministry and cornerstone. She also highly valued the many art classes she was able to take and the lifelong friendships that were developed. Allison’s education was very important to her, but equally so were the other opportunities she had to represent her university outside the campus. One such experience was participating for two years as a team member sent to the National Ethics Bowl, led by Dr. John D. Copeland. This team taught Allison a tremendous amount about life, ethics, struggles, conflict, and confidence. For this reason, this scholarship is dedicated to Dr. Copeland, who spent significant time investing in Allison, personally and professionally. Jay and Lynda Martyn are grateful for the education and mentoring their daughter received at JBU, and the opportunities for her to grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially.
