Chapel Group Speakers

Fall 2020

This fall, in lieu of large-group chapels, students are participating in small Chapel Groups across campus during the normal chapel time and listening to messages created for our students by faculty/staff and guest speakers.

Noah Mitchell

(Weeks of August 24 and September 7)

Noah Mitchell, who serves on the JBU Board of Trustees, received his undergraduate degree in 2005 and his graduate degree in Ministry in 2007, both from JBU. He is currently Director of Strategic Partnerships and Student Experience at Per Scholas Columbus, and the author of Face to Faith: How to Own Your Faith in College.

 
Jill Briscoe

Jill Briscoe

Jill Briscoe has written more than forty books and has traveled on every continent, teaching and encouraging others in the Christian life. She has served on the boards of Christianity Today and World Relief, and now acts as Executive Editor of a magazine for women, Just Between Us. Jill can be heard regularly on the worldwide media ministry, Telling the Truth.

Kaitlyn Schiess

Kaitlyn Schiess

(Week of September 28)

Kaitlyn is the author of the recently released book, The Liturgy of Politics: Spiritual Formation for the Sake of Our Neighbor. She is a 2016 graduate of Liberty University and is earning a master’s degree in theology at Dallas Theological Seminary. She writes about theology, politics, and culture at places like Christ and Pop Culture, Christianity Today, CT Women, RELEVANT, Sojourners, Fathom, and the Christian Research Journal. Kaitlyn is a guest of the fourth annual Reimagining Faith and Public Life event at JBU.

President Chip Pollard

Dr. Pollard has been the president of JBU since 2004. Prior to coming to JBU, he taught English at Calvin College and practiced law in Chicago.

 
Aaron Elmore

Aaron Elmore

(Week of October 12)

Aaron Elmore, a 2006 JBU alum, has been serving the local church for fifteen years in youth, discipleship, and family pastor roles. He currently serves as Lead Pastor at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

James Hawkins

Dr. Hawkins completed his masters in Marriage and Family Counseling, and PhD in Psychology and Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and is a licensed professional counselor at the Joshua Center. He has been married to his wife, Nicola, for 16 years, and they have five daughters.

Matthew Kaemingk

Matthew Kaemingk

(Week of November 9)

Rev. Dr. Matthew Kaemingk is an assistant professor of Christian Ethics at Fuller Theological Seminary and the associate dean of Fuller Texas in Houston. He also serves as a fellow for the Center for Public Justice in Washington, D.C. He holds doctoral degrees in Systematic Theology from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and in Christian Ethics from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the author of Christian Hospitality and Muslim Immigration in an Age of Fear. Matthew comes as a guest of the JBU Center for Faith and Flourishing.
