Mrs. Erin Shaw grew up on a farm in Southeastern, Oklahoma where she was given plenty of space for exploration and imagination that would later characterize her life as an artist. She earned a B.F.A. in studio art from Baylor University and her M.F.A. from the University of Oklahoma. She has spent her professional career educating artists of all ages while maintaining a vibrant studio practice and exhibition schedule.

Mrs. Shaw's work as an artist rests in this simple assertion: We are all collectors of stories and the stories we collect shape the people we are. In narrative style, she creates paintings engaged in stories: both its function and its telling. She believes that stories are powerful tools that help people create meaning and her interest in them is evident in everything she does.

A citizen of the Chickasaw nation, Mrs. Shaw currently serves as Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR. In her spare time she can be found reading, fishing, mountain biking or exploring the outdoors with her husband, son, and shoe-thieving bird dog.
