Dr. Courtney Evans is a licensed professional counselor in the state of North Carolina. She received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from North Carolina A&T State University in 2017. She received her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University in 2014.

Dr. Evans specializes in working with trauma, earning her trauma cognate during her Doctoral program. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma. She has been trained in evidence-based trauma models including the Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention CFTSI by Yale University.

Dr. Evans' research interested include child mental health, effective parenting, childhood trauma, and Adlerian Theory. She has extensive experience using Play Therapy when working with clients, and has recently completed all hours and applied to become a Registered Play Therapist.

Dr. Evans' passion for working with children and adolescents is expressed not only in her research, but also in her service work. She is a President-elect of the North Carolina Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling. Dr. Evans is also a member of other organizations, including Association for Education and Supervision, Southern Association for Education and Supervision, American Counseling Association, North Carolina Counseling Association, and the Association for Play Therapy.
