 Dr. Emeline Eckart holds a license as a Professional Counselor, Board Approved Supervisor in the state of Louisiana. Dr. Eckart received her B.A. in Psychology from Marquette University, where she also received a minor in Naval Science through participation in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Command ROTC program. Upon graduation, Dr. Eckart was commissioned as a Naval Officer and attended flight school where she was winged as a Naval Aviator. She completed nine years of active duty service and 4 years as a selected reservist. During her service she participated in two 6-month deployments in support of U.S. Pacific Fleet Ships, participated in Hurricane Katrina Relief, and was a Naval Flight Instructor. She currently is a member of the inactive reserves.

Dr. Eckart completed her M.S. in Mental Health Counseling through Capella University and went on to earn her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of New Orleans. Her dissertation research examined the work and family roles of female counselors. Other research areas include the military population and disaster mental health. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Educators and Supervisors, and has served on the Sexual Assault Response Team in Louisiana.

Dr. Eckart has a wide range of clinical counseling experience that includes addiction centers, child custody evaluations, and private practice. Most recently she was the Clinical Director at a non-profit mental health agency in New Orleans where she utilized grant funding to make services accessible to as many clients as possible. As an educator, Dr. Eckart uses real-world examples from her clinical experience in the classroom to illustrate material. Her teaching experience includes teaching internationally at the University of Malta. She uses a student-centered approach in which all learners are empowered to achieve their goals.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Eckart is married to a military aviator and they have one daughter and two golden retrievers. She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family.
