Career Fair Description

The Spring 2021 Virtual Hiring & Networking Fair will provide JBU students and alumni with a virtual forum in which they may gain experience in the art of gathering career-related information from practicing professionals while providing our employers and graduate schools the opportunity to connect and potentially recruit our talented JBU students and alumni. Organizations have been asked to provide at least one job or graduate school opportunity for you to apply to at this event. This fair is open to all JBU students and alumni.

DETAILS FOR EMPLOYERS:

The Spring 2021 Virtual Hiring & Networking Fair will be March 24, 2021 through Handshake. We will have an emphasis on providing hiring and graduate school opportunities. In order to register for this event, you will need to post at least one job or graduate school opportunity on Handshake that students and alumni can apply to at this fair. The hours are from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM.

5 STEP PROCESS TO REGISTER FOR THE FAIR  (You must be logged into Handshake)
  • POST A JOB ON HANDSHAKE HERE
  • REGISTER FOR THE FAIR HERE
  • PAY FOR THE FAIR HERE
  • TEST YOUR VIDEO: Make sure your camera and audio on your computer are working properly (phones not recommended). Handshake has a button on the right side at the top of this registration page underneath the fair image where you can test your session ahead of time.
  • CREATE YOUR SCHEDULE - Once you have paid and are approved, you will be able to set your schedule. Schedules for the day of the fair will need to be created as early as possible. Those who make schedules later will miss out on students scheduling with other employers who have already created their schedules. Schedules will be due two weeks in advance of the fair in order to attend. Once you receive approval in Handshake, come back to the main page and click on the schedule button.
There is a $70 registration fee which covers your organization's registration for the event. Registration is not complete without payment. If you are paying by credit card, click here for the payment website or contact cdc@jbu.edu if you would like to pay by invoice. Make sure you fill out the registration form completely. You will need names and emails of all registrants to register. Registration closes March 3, 2021.
 
  • Sponsorship Information:You can also add payment to be a Fair Sponsor. Sponsorship entitles you to additional marketing to students and your organization's name on our advertising materials. Sponsorship costs an additional $95 and needs to be selected on your registration form and added at checkout on the payment website. Only a limited number of sponsorships available.
  • On-Campus Interviews
    To schedule on campus interviews the day of or the day after the Fair, please use Handshake to request an interview session. Please allow at least THREE weeks in advance. Interviews will only be honored through making prior arrangements.
  • Recruiting & Internship Policies
    Please make sure you have read our recruiting and internship policies before attending the fair or posting jobs.
  • On-Campus Interviews
    To schedule on campus interviews the day of or the day after the Career Fair, please contact our Career Development Administrative Assistant, Michelle Reed, at 479-524-7263 at least three weeks in advance. Interviews will only be honored through making prior arrangements.

Attend this fair to expand your network, polish your interview skills, learn industry information, and gather information about companies and graduate schools. The fair is free to attend. Business attire is preferred. Business Casual is required to attend. Even in a virtual environment, it is important to dress appropriately for an interview. Making the Most of Your Virtual Career Fair Experience:


It is easy to feel intimidated at a virtual career fair - that is why it's helpful to do your homework ahead of time. Here are some ways you can prepare:

  • Review the list of employers/graduate schools attending the fair in JBU Handshake beforehand and prioritize your top preferences.
  • Conduct research on the employers that are high on your preference list using sites such as LinkedIn and Glassdoor.
  • Prepare questions for employers based on your goals for the fair, such as career exploration or job search.
  • Create your resume (click here for resume resources) and upload it to Handshake. Be prepared to have it available to apply to jobs or send to employers via email.
  • Complete your Handshake profile and make it viewable to employers.
  • Dress for Success - yes even virtually, you need to dress appropriately for an interview.
  • IMPORTANT: Create a professional environment for your online session. Use a computer to attend rather than a phone if possible.
