Active Assault Response Training

Campus Safety would like to give a training presentation to any group on campus about Active Assault Response. Please contact Scott Wanzer at to schedule a presentation.

The training session is an interactive presentation including a 20 minute video entitled, ‘SHOTS FIRED on Campus (Student Edition): Guidance for Surviving an Active Assault Situation’ produced by The Center for Personal Protection & Safety. After the presentation, there is a discussion time to process what Escape looks like for you, what Lockdown looks like for you, and what Fight Back looks like for you.

Active Assault is a broader term than Active Shooter. An active assault can be done with a variety of weapons, not just a firearm.

Note - Active Shooter Response models for K-12 are different than the above, more adult focused model. K-12 campuses are less porous and commonly allow focus only on the Lockdown piece of response. In an adult model, every person is encouraged and empowered to Escape, Lockdown, or Fight as they see fit, given their background and current capacity.
