Get to know Leigh Annah

Where are you from? Ozark, Arkansas

Major in college? Intercultural Studies with a minor in Art and Illustration

What activities were you involved in at JBU? During my time as a student at JBU I took on a couple of different leadership roles that allowed me to pour into the lives of other students. I was on the residence life staff in Walker during my sophomore and junior years. My senior year I was a gateway mentor—a sort of teacher assistant that helps students during their first semester at JBU.

Why are you working at JBU? I love helping others figure out what God’s will for their life is. The season of higher education that students go through is such a unique and volatile time in their lives and I want to be a consistent positive voice through that time.

What’s your favorite thing to do in NWA? My interests are pretty broad, I love anything from shopping to kayaking to riding motorcycles. NWA is unique because you can experience the city by going to see famous art at Crystal Bridges or watch the symphony at the Walton Arts Center but in the same day hike a trail to a waterfall or go mountain climbing.

What are some movies you enjoy? I enjoy just about any genre of movie, but I’m nearly always in the mood to watch a good musical.

Describe your familyIf there was one red thread that ran through every member of my family it would definitely be creativity. I grew up on a Christmas tree farm in a tiny town in Arkansas with my three older brothers and Christ-loving parents. My parents were always encouraging us to innovate and grow while raising us to center our lives around Jesus. My brothers and I have continued to appreciate creation while serving and loving those around us.

What quick advice would you give an incoming JBU student? As you’re being poured into spiritually and relationally by those around you, search out opportunities to pour into others. If you serve others with a humble spirit and embrace this new season of your life you’re entering into there’s no limit to the ways you’ll grow.
