Get to Know Dalia:

Where are you from? I am originally from Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. It’s a city on the Texas-Mexico border. I lived there until I was about five, then my family moved to Siloam Springs. I grew up spending the summer time in Durango, Mexico with my mom's family. It was the best of both worlds!

Major in college? Family and Human Services with a minor in Spanish. (Which I recommend for all Spanish-English bilingual students!)

Why are you working at JBU? I love education and the world of learning. Working as an Admissions Counselor lets me serve others while being an advocate for higher education. I have been blessed in so many ways by attending JBU and I want others to experience it too.

What are your favorite things to do in NWA? I love trying new restaurants and shops – especially the family/locally owned ones! Spending time outdoors hiking or swimming. Checking out the different Farmer’s Markets. Visiting friends that are in the area.

One phrase or word that describes you? Short like February and loving like Sunday.

What are some movies you enjoy? Any movie that will make me cry or one with a female hero. I will watch a movie multiple times in theater if I really like it.

Describe your family: My husband and I live in Siloam Springs where we are close to both of our immediate families. All of my extended family lives in Mexico, so I have always been really close with my brothers and parents. We enjoy planning mini adventures together to new places, cooking out, and sharing life together. My husband and I enjoy watching and talking about sports too, especial the NBA league.

What quick advice would you give an incoming JBU student? It’s a fresh start! Be intentional with your time and how you spend it. Your time at JBU will go by fast and you will want to have great memories and accomplishments.
