International Programs Overview
Learn about International Programs at JBU
William Stevenson (Professor): Hello, my name is William Stevenson and I’m the director of International programs at John Brown University and my vision is to have every student participate in some study abroad program/mission trip. So they would be able to compete in the global environment in which we live, work, and do business today.
Hilary Sherrer (Student): Hi my name is Hillary Sherrer and I went on a study abroad to Ireland.
Hayley Hendren (Student): Hi, I’m Hayley and studied abroad in Oxford in the fall of 2011.
Jeremy Enders (Student): My name is Jeremy Enders and this summer I went to Northern Ireland with John Brown University.
Caylie Foyle (Student): My name is Caylie Foyle and last summer I studied abroad in Berlin Germany.
Katy Rogers (Student): My name is Katy Rogers and I studied abroad in Ireland.
Hayley Hendren (Student): It was the best semester of my life. Hands down.
Jeremy Enders (Student): We have this big mansion that everyone lives in and it was really cool just to live with some great people-some great friends that I didn’t know before-for six weeks. You say you do that in college in the dorms, but this is different because you do everything together.
Hilary Sherrer (Student): We got to explore castles and forests. We got to read Yate’s poetry in the very place that he was writing about.
Katy Rogers (Student): We went right at sunset and we had this gorgeous golden light going through the trees and it just looked like this enchanted forest. Like something that you would see out of Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia.
Caylie Foyle (Student): My favorite experience there was discovering color.
Hayley Hendren (Student): I loved drinking tea every afternoon and going to the biggest library in the world. Studying abroad is an incredible experience and you get to develop even habits of another culture and you bring those back with you and share them with your friends here at JBU.
Jeremy Enders (Student): I came with 13 people I didn’t know and when I left I had 13 really really good friends.
Katy Rogers (Student): Studying Abroad- it’s one thing to hear about it and to see all the photos but it’s another thing to actually experience it. It’s like nothing you’ll ever do.
Caylie Foyle (Student): I learned a lot about myself, but I also learned a lot about the people I was traveling with.
Katy Rogers (Student): You’ll want to do it again!
Hilary Sherrer (Student): I would definitely encourage anyone and everyone because it’s one of those things that once you do it, you will never be the same again.
William Stevenson (Professor): We would love to have you come and join us on any one of those programs. For they will be not only life changing but they will change the way that you live your life.
