Senior Mercy Okaalet explains how the JBU experience 'pays dividends for a lifetime.'
I’m Mercy Okaalet from Nairobi, Kenya. And I’m a Biology major here at JBU. Lots of consideration and prayer go into making the decision about where to attend college. We know that getting an education from John Brown University takes a significant investment from students and their families. At JBU you’re going to get a great value for your investment. For starters, we make sure that you get your degree. JBU has the highest graduation rate of any university in our state. Maybe that’s because JBU invests in its students. With a fourteen to one faculty to student ratio, our professors are personally involved in their students’ success. Not only teaching them in the classroom, but mentoring them professionally and personally outside the classroom. JBU invests financially as well. Like last year, JBU awarded over ten million dollars in scholarships and grants. Students come here for an excellent Christian education that provides them global opportunities with less loan debt. On average, our graduates have over seven thousand dollars less in loans than students from other schools in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. But perhaps the best value in a JBU education are the things you can’t measure in dollars. The integration of our faith from the dorm room to the class room creates an environment where students make great choices about who they are and what they can do with the talents God has given them. Our graduates are prepared for their chosen fields, and enthusiastic about making a difference. And while here, they build strong relationships with many of the people who are going to support them on their journey. JBU isn’t just a four-year investment. The John Brown University experience pays dividends for a lifetime.
