Creating a Beautiful Worship Space
Restore a Pew - With a gift of $1,500, you can restore one of the hand-built pews crafted by students in the campus furniture shop in the 1950s. Each contribution honors you or a loved one with a personalized plaque.
Donor Wall - With a generous contribution of $5,000 or more, donors can not only grace the Cathedral Donor Dedication Wall with their name but also personalize up to 3 pews in a distinguished manner.
The Cathedral of the Ozarks is the heart of our JBU campus and one of the most iconic buildings in the northwest Arkansas region.
However, as with any aging facility, renovations must be strategically completed in order to preserve the building’s structure and beauty and to ensure its longevity for future generations. The interior of the Cathedral sanctuary has not been improved since 1991.
Total Cost: $1.5 million
Project Dates: May 2024 - August 2024
The renovation project will include:
We had one of the handcrafted pews refinished (see front pew) last summer to illustrate how these historic fixtures can be restored to their original beauty.
Removing the permanent stage risers will provide more flexibility for both our Chapel Band as well as community events like the Talent Show and Mock Rock.
Hear from Keith Jagger, university chaplain, as he discusses the historical significance and present importance of the Cathedral of the Ozarks, and President Chip Pollard as he details the new renovation project.
