Welcome from our Director

Welcome to John Brown University. We are so glad that you have joined our community, and we hope your experience here is a challenging and enjoyable one. We in Student Support Services want to make sure you are aware of the services that are available through our office to help you have a successful experience as a student here at JBU.

Student Support Services is a federally-funded student success program for those who qualify. We offer:

  • free tutoring, in most subject areas
  • eligibility for spring scholarship money
  • free cultural trips
  • academic workshops
  • assistance with a variety of learning strategies, including time management, organizational skills and academic accountability
  • specialized math and reading assistance
  • use of the Accelerated Learning Lab with computers, printing and scanning
  • and more!

If you are interested in any of these services, you can complete an application by clicking here.

Other programs that operate through our office are Academic Assistance, for students who don't qualify for the SSS program, Disability Services, and Testing Services, such as administration of CLEP tests and proctoring. If you have a documented disability of any type and would be interested in learning what assistance might be available to you, please make an appointment to talk with me.

It is our hope and desire for you to be successful academically here at JBU. Please take full advantage of our services, and let us know how we can be of assistance to you. You may come by our office in LRC 147, down the hall from the library, or call 479-524-7471 to set up an appointment with one of our staff to learn more. You can also contact our office by emailing Tedi, our Administrative Assistant, at thollabaugh@jbu.edu.

We hope to meet you soon and find out how we can assist you!
