Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 19, 2004) - Competing for the first time of the new semester, the John Brown University women’s swim team finished 2nd overall at the Austin College Invitational last Saturday in Sherman, Texas. Colorado College won the meet with 559 points, JBU was 2nd with 287, McMurry University finished 3rd with 261, UALR was 4th at 233, Austin College 5th with 129 and UT-Permian Basin rounded out the field with 57 points.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagle women were first place winners Jenny Brown in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, Kathleen Kubricht in the 100 yard Butterfly and the 200 yard Medley Relay team of Brown, Kubricht, Lindsey Smith and Stephanie Burrell. Additionally, JBU had an individual second place finisher as Canda Cottrill took the 2nd position in the 500 yard Freestyle race and the 200 year Freestyle relay team of Smith, Burrell, Kubricht and Mariah Rose took runner-up honors in that race.
JBU will be at home this Saturday, January 24, for their last home meet of the season. Rhodes College of Memphis will be the opponent and the meet will begin at 12:00 noon in the Hub White Pool on the John Brown Campus.
