Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 8, 2003) - The JBU swim teams competed in a double dual meet at McMurry University on December 6. Swimming against McMurry and University of Texas at Permian Basin, the Golden Eagles struggled and were able to capture only one dual meet win as the JBU women defeated UTPB 111-57. In other duals, McMurry defeated the JBU women132-71 while the Golden Eagle men lost both dual meets. The Golden Eagle men lost to McMurry 173-55 and to UTPB 111-91.
The only individual winner for JBU was Lindsey Smith who won two events. Smith won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.4 and the 100-yard butterfly with 1:05.59.
“We have been in a more intense phase of our conditioning recently causing the athletes to have to readjust. The readjustment was not made in time for this meet and our performances were not as good as they have been,” stated Coach Brandi Harris on the team’s return to Siloam Springs.
The Golden Eagle swim team will now be out of competition until January 17 when they travel to Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
