Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 23, 2009) - John Brown University Director of Athletics Robyn Daugherty has announced that Kerri Young has been hired as the new cheerleading coach at John Brown University.
“We are excited that Kerri is the one who will be putting together our new cheer program at JBU,” said Daugherty. “She has all the skills that we were looking for including a love for students, for cheer and for the school. “ Young participated on a National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Dance national championship team in high school and went on to cheer from 1993-1997 at Hastings College in Hastings, Neb. She served as choreographer/co-captain for three of those years.
“I am thrilled for this opportunity to build a new cheer program at JBU. I am passionate about investing in and instilling vision in young people, and I loved everything about cheering while I was in college,” said Young. “This is such an exciting time to be a part of the athletic program because of the opening of the new arena next fall, and my goal is that the cheerleaders will bring excellence and enthusiasm to each athletic event we participate in, as well increase the overall level of school spirit on campus.” Young and her husband Brent, who works as the JBU Graduate Business Recruiter, currently reside in Rogers, Ark. with their two children, Kenzie (4) and Camden (1).
