Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 29, 2008) - The John Brown University women’s soccer team played spoiler on Wednesday night after defeating Rogers State (Okla.) 1-0 during their senior night at Soldier Field in Claremore.
Sophomore Robyn Cluka scored the lone goal for the match in the 42nd minute after her shot hit the left post and glanced by RSU’s goalie Bailey Lynn. Freshman Cam Martin earned the assist.
Both teams played a tough second half but neither was able to score giving JBU the 1-0 win.
For the game, JBU (12-4-1, 8-1-1) outshot RSU (12-4, 6-3) 22-10. JBU keeper Megan Rouse posted four saves against four shots on goal from RSU while Lynn posted 12 saves against 13 shots on goal for JBU.
JBU remains in third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference after the win. Up next, the ladies await the first round of the SAC conference tournament. JBU is guaranteed to host a first round game at home on Nov. 8 since they will finish as one of the top four teams in the final conference standings. Their opponent and game time will be determined at the conclusion of regular season play for the remaining teams in the conference.
