Siloam Springs, Ark. (August 29, 2008) - A poster exhibit titled “The Graphic Content: Art of the New Music Scene” will be the first display of the academic year in John Brown University’s art gallery. The exhibit will open with a reception Tuesday, September 2 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. This unique exhibit highlights the current explosion of interest in the rock music poster scene, with an emphasis on the most influential graphic artists who are creating what is being called the “new rock poster.” New rock poster art incorporates not only the typography and simplified, straightforward graphics of design, but also has more of an emphasis on the conceptual image of the music. The exhibit is filled with contemporary screen printed rock posters, most of which were created after 2000. This 112 piece collection is on loan from Texas Tech University and will be on display until October 3, 2008. The JBU Art Gallery is located in JBU’s art building on the main campus in Siloam Springs. Normal gallery hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. All gallery exhibits are free and open to the public.
