KLRC Receives Nomination for National Award
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 14, 2008) — 101.1 FM KLRC has been selected as a finalist for the Radio Station of Year award from The Gospel Music Association (GMA). A panel of GMA judges selected KLRC from a national pool of small-market Christian radio stations to be a finalist for the most prestigious honor in Christian radio. Finalists for the award are selected based on industry leadership, ratings, overall on-air sound, as well as community involvement. “We have the unique privilege of sharing hope with listeners every day,” said Sean Sawatzky, General Manager for KLRC. “To be named a finalist for the Station of the Year award is only possible because of the amazing support we receive from our listeners. It's truly an honor to be listed among some of the very best Christian stations in the country. We're very excited!” KLRC won the award in 2001, 2002, and 2006. This year marks the fifth time that KLRC has been chosen as a finalist for the award. KLRC will find out if they were selected for the GMA Radio Station of the Year award during the 39th annual GMA Music Awards on April 23, which have been known as the Dove Awards. The 4,000-member Gospel Music Association (www.gospelmusic.org) has been dedicated to promoting and celebrating the gospel through music since 1964. The GMA represents all styles of gospel music and holds an annual music awards event each year to recognize achievements in all genres of gospel music. The recognition of excellence comes as KLRC is gearing up for its yearly fundraiser, Sharathon, from March 25 to March 28. The first day is designated for listeners to share testimonies of how the station has impacted their lives. KLRC is a listener supported station and depends on listener donations for over 70% of its operational budget. The goal for Sharathon is to raise $500,000 for the upcoming year. 101.1 FM KLRC is a non-profit, listener-supported, radio station located in Siloam Springs, Ark. KLRC broadcasts in Northwest Ark. at 101.1 FM, 99.1 FM in Bentonville and worldwide at www.KLRC.com. KLRC is a ministry of John Brown University.
