Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 14, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles split a dual meet Saturday in Siloam Springs, losing to Lindenwood (Mo.) 471-335, but defeating McMurry (Texas) 369-204. Lindenwood also defeated McMurry 492-190.
Ashley Kenline and Becca Camfield finished first and second in the 200-yard freestyle with times of 2:07.82 and 2:11.97, respectively. Laura Ravenscroft won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.62, and Gabby McCully made the cut for the NAIA Nationals in the 200-yard individual medley with a second-place, 2:21.41 finish. Kenline and Ravenscroft took the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Kenline’s time of 57.70 qualified her for nationals, and Ravenscroft’s 58.79 swim was her personal best by two seconds. Jenny Brown also qualified for nationals with a 1:05.49 win in the 100-yard backstroke. In the 500-yard freestyle, McCully made her second national cut of the day, finishing second in 5:33.81.
John Brown will be competing this weekend at the Liberal Arts Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
