Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 19, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles let one slip away from them Thursday night, letting 19th-ranked Oklahoma City sneak up from behind to win 75-71. Lorenzo Gordon scored 23 points for the Stars, and Trevor Meier added 20, 11 of which came in the final 4:16. Alex Terry led the Golden Eagles with 17 points and 9 assists, and Brandon Cole scored 14 points, hitting 3 three-pointers. Adam Workman also made three treys and scored 12 points, and Cody Page contributed 10 points. Joel Tesis scored 8 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Oklahoma City (11-8, 5-1 SAC) led 15-7 early on, but John Brown (8-9, 3-3 SAC) went on a 13-4 run capped by back-to-back field goals and a free throw by John Williams to take a 20-19 lead. The Golden Eagles led 41-35 at the break. Not ever able to take a double-digit lead, though they led by 9 four times, the Golden Eagles fended off every surge by the Stars until Meier converted a four-point play with 4:16 remaining to tie the game at 67-67. Back-to-back baskets by Cody Page after another Meier trey put John Brown ahead again 71-70 with 1:39 remaining, but crucial turnovers stymied the Golden Eagles in the final minute.
For the game, Oklahoma City scored 25 points off 21 John Brown turnovers and stole the ball 17 times. The Stars shot 45.8% from the field, while the Golden Eagles shot 50.9%. John Brown won the rebounding battle 34-26.
Rory Green scored 13 points for Oklahoma City, and Dawud Drew added 11.
