Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 14, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles lost to Lubbock Christian Saturday not because of poor shooting but because of a lack of field-goal attempts. Twenty-eight turnovers limited the Golden Eagles to just 44 shots, of which they made 18 (40.9%). The Lady Chaps, on the other hand, cashed those turnovers in for 27 points and shot 47.1%. Kim Lloyd scored 12 points for Lubbock Christian, and teammate Carolyn Manning added 10. Kendra McCormick stood alone in double figures for John Brown with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
John Brown fell to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Golden Eagles’ defense played up to its normal standards, forcing 17 turnovers and limiting the Lady Chaps to 62 points. But the John Brown offense could not step up enough, despite a late run that cut a 23-point Lubbock Christian lead to 11 with 1:30 remaining. The Golden Eagles even had trouble getting to the free-throw line, though they did convert on 5-of-6 opportunities, an 83.3% performance.
John Brown hosts 5th-ranked Oklahoma City Thursday night at 6:00.
