Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 5, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles outlasted a physical Science & Arts team 59-55 Thursday night in Siloam Springs gaining a crucial Sooner Athletic Conference victory in the process. Joel Tesis posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Alex Terry led John Brown (6-7, 1-1) in scoring with 12 points while contributing 6 assists.
The Drovers led throughout most of the first half, but the Golden Eagles went on an 11-1 run going into halftime, spurred by two buckets from Terry, a 3-pointer from Cody Page, and a putback by Oscar Sealy. In the second half, Brandon Cole finally made it into the scoring column with a 3-pointer that gave the Golden Eagles a 37-32 lead. Cole then scored four unanswered points in the final two minutes, including two clinching free throws, to break a 55-55 tie. Cole finished the game with 9 points. J.J. Walsh had a double-double for Science & Arts with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
John Brown travels to Alva, Okla., Saturday to face SAC opponent Northwestern Oklahoma State at 3:00.
