Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 10, 2005) - The 8th-ranked John Brown Golden Eagles overcame early turnovers and a physical team from Park (Mo.) to claim their second win of the season 89-52 Thursday night in Siloam Springs. Brandon Cole led John Brown with 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Cole scored 23 of those points in the alone second half, and finished the evening with 7 treys on 10 attempts.
Adam Workman and Cody Page each scored 11 for the Golden Eagles, and Tyler Dees came off the bench to add 10. Point guard Alex Terry dished 7 assists while scoring 9 points, and Joel Tesis pulled down 11 rebounds.
Park (0-4) led early in the game after capitalizing on a number of John Brown turnovers and 11 quick points by guard Donovan Thompson. But the Golden Eagles took the lead for good 15-13 with 9:50 remaining in the first half when Page hit his first of two three-pointers. John Brown (2-1) finished with 15 treys on 58% shooting from behind the arc. The Golden Eagles shot 52% overall from the field and 82% from the free-throw line.
Once again, the John Brown defense dominated its opponent, forcing 14 turnovers and winning the defensive rebounding battle 27-13. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Pirates 42-24 overall. Park connected on just 30% of its field-goal attempts. The Pirates were led in scoring by Thompson with 14 points and Chris Jones with 11.
