Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 28, 2005) - The John Brown Golden Eagles defeated Missouri Southern 3-1 in Siloam Springs Wednesday. The game was delayed about half-an-hour in the first half by a thunderstorm, but finished under cloudy skies with a strong breeze. The Golden Eagles took the lead in the 14th minute when Kyle Carter scored the first of his two goals off an assist by Terry Andrew. John Brown struck again when Daniel Fleming scored an unassisted goal in the 51st minute. Missouri Southern’s lone goal was scored by Austin Whiles in the 70th minute to make the score 2-1, but the Golden Eagles again stretched the lead to two in the 72nd minute with Carter’s second goal, assisted by Andrew and Garrett Horton. John Brown (7-2-1) out-shot Missouri Southern (3-9) 22-7. Lions goalkeeper Travis Haight made five saves, but two John Brown goals were scored on rebounds.
