Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 6, 2005) - The John Brown University men’s basketball team opened up the Sooner Athletic Conference play with a 69-60 win over visiting Southern Nazarene Thursday night. The Golden Eagles shot just 43% from the field, but went an impressive 72% from the free throw stripe to help hold off a threatening Crimson Storm.
The Golden Eagles were up 33-29 at the break. The Crimson Storm stayed close through out the second half, but JBU was able to hold them off with good free throw shooting and a strong defense.
Junior Brandon Cole led the scoring with 23, going 5 for 10 from behind the arc. Senior Reyjavick De Gracia contributed 14 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Adam Workman was close behind with 11 points, nine of the points from three point land.
The Golden Eagles travel to #3 ranked Oklahoma Christian Saturday night. Their next home game is on January 20th at 8:00 p.m.
