Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 6, 2005) - The John Brown University women’s basketball team was unable to conquer the giant as they faced the #3 ranked Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm Thursday night at Murray Sells gymnasium. This was the opening game of conference for the Golden Eagles, starting them at 0-1 and giving them a season record of 8-4.
At the break, the teams were tied up at 29, but the Crimson Storm were able to pull away when they went on a 10-0 run midway through the second half, and came away with the 49-62 win.
Sophomore Lesli Fanning led the scoring for the Golden Eagles with 12. Senior Caitlin Chandler contributed seven points and five rebounds. Junior Kendra McCormick led in rebounds with six, and also threw in six points.
The women will travel to Oklahoma Christian Saturday. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
