John Brown University Men’s Swimmers Second in Dual Meet
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 9, 2004) — Swimming and diving in a dual meet against Lindenwood University in St. Louis on Saturday, the men’s swim team came out on the short end of the score 194-48. The Golden Eagle men failed to win an event, but did capture several second place finishes in the competition including a national qualifying mark of 240.20 points by Brandon Jeffries in the 3 meter diving event.
Additionally, two men’s relay teams, the 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Adam Rohde, Dusty Woodson, Tyler Cook and Juan Aparicio in a time of 2:00.55 and the team of Marshall Gooding, Josh Hughes, Luke Williams and Nik Hook in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay in 3:28.37 scored second place finishes.
The only individual placing in the runner-up position for the men was Hook with 2:09.37 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley and 5:22.21 in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Four third place finishes were recorded in the meet. Aparicio swam 14:53.39 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle to finish 3rd, Jeffries scored 250.70 points in the 1 Meter Diving event, Hughes had a 58.87 time in the 100 Yard Butterfly and Williams recorded a 52.06 time in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
Next up for the swim team is the Liberal Arts Conference meet on February 19-21 and then on to the NAIA National Meet on March 3-6 for those who have qualified.
