Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 26, 2004) - John Brown University basketball goes back on the road this week after playing two games at home last week. With double victories (men and women) over Science and Arts of Oklahoma and Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday and Saturday, the teams now travel to Bethany, Oklahoma on Thursday night to do battle with Southern Nazarene. After last week’s victories, the JBU men moved into a tie for the conference lead with Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma City, all with 5 wins and 2 losses. The Golden Eagle men have 17 wins for the season against 3 losses. The JBU women’s double victories allowed them to move into a tie for 3rd in the SAC with Wayland Baptist at SAC records of 5-2. Overall on the season, the JBU women are 16-4.
The Southern Nazarene women’s team is currently leading the Sooner Athletic Conference with an unblemished 7-0 record and is the No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA with an overall record of 19-1. For the men, SNU is tied for 4th in the SAC with a 4-3 record and they are not ranked in the top 25 NAIA poll.
Following the SNU games on Thursday, JBU will hit the road once again on Saturday for games with Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma. The OCU women are in a two-way tie for 5th in the SAC with a record of 3-4 and are 12-7 overall. Oklahoma Christian’s men are in the 7th position in the SAC at 3-4 and are 13-5 for the year. Neither OCU team is ranked in the NAIA top 25.
