Becca Young Named Sooner Athletic Conference Libero of the Week
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (September 11, 2012) — JBU's own Becca Young has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Libero of the Week for Sept. 3-9.
Young had a career-best 23 digs in a 3-1 Golden Eagle victory over Baker (Kan.) on Sept. 8 at the Wildcats' own invitational tournament.
A sophomore from Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Young averaged 4.6 digs and carried a perfect serve percentage in 66 attempts, including two aces. She also had a .949 reception percentage as JBU finished 3-1 on the week.
Oklahoma Baptist's Kristin Pressley was named Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, headlining the weekly list of honorees in the sport.
Also honored are OBU's Sabra Clark as Setter of the Week, John Brown's Becca Young as Libero of the Week and Oklahoma City's Meghan Irwin as Hitter of the Week.
Pressley, a junior from Mansfield, Texas, was honored after averaging 4.94 kills and 4.5 digs per game in OBU's 2-2 week, which included a win over No. 11 Doane. She had a .306 attack percentage for the week, to go with three blocks and three aces.
Clark, a senior from Andover, Kan., averaged 10.79 assists per game. She also had 39 digs and nine kills.
Irwin, a sophomore outside hitter from Arlington, Texas, averaged 4.0 kills and had a .342 attack percentage to go along with 14 blocks in OCU's 3-3 week.
