Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 13, 2003) - After a sluggish first 20 minutes, John Brown University outscored Mid America Christian University 52-30 in the second half to take a 93-70 win on Saturday afternoon in Siloam Springs. Junior Reyjavick De Gracia had a career high 30 points and also brought down 12 caroms for his double- double to lead the Golden Eagles in their last game before the Christmas Holidays. Sophomore Brandon Cole pitched in 16 points for the Golden Eagles and sophomore Alex Terry showed his versatility with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists.
With 26 points, Aaron Engel led the Evangels.
Coach John Sheehy commented on the win by saying, ” Although we struggled in the first half, our guys put together a much better performance in the last half allowing us to pull ahead convincingly. We now have to keep our focus during the next couple of weeks without any games.” Sheehy went on to say, “De Gracia worked hard on both ends of the court, but especially the offensive where he was very active under the goal and got many second effort shots.”
JBU, the number 9 ranked NAIA team, ups their season record to 11-1 and will be out of competition until January 1 when Central Baptist College comes to Siloam Springs for a 3:00 pm game.
