Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 10, 2003) - JBU women’s basketball team outscored Hendrix College 20-8 in the last 7 minutes of play to take a convincing 69-49 win on Tuesday evening in Conway. After leading 33-21 at half, the Golden Eagles allowed the Warriors to close the gap to 49-41 before making the final run.
JBU sophomore Natalie Reid led all scorers with 18 points and freshman Ashley Wettengel chipped in 12 during the victory. Reid was also the leading rebounder in the game as she pulled down 9 caroms, 3 offensively and 6 defensively. Hendrix College also had two in double figures with Jamie Ball and Bonnie Hicks both tossing in 13 points.
With the victory, the JBU women up their season record to 10-2. For the first time this season the Golden Eagles received votes in this week’s NAIA poll.
JBU will close out the pre-conference season this Saturday when NAIA Division I number 19 ranked Columbia College comes to Siloam Springs for a 1:00 pm game.
