JBU Basketball Defeated by Park University

Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 4, 2003) — Playing their second road game of the week, John Brown University men’s basketball team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Park University 73-56. The Golden Eagles were never able to get on track offensively and had difficulty defending two Park players, William Winston and Chip Weber. Winston tossed in 21 points and Weber had 17 for the winning effort.

Junior Reyjavick De Gracia tossed in 10 points and pulled down 6 rebounds to lead JBU in both categories.

“We have to give credit to their good defensive effort. We were held to below our season average in shooting,” commented Coach John Sheehy. “Park is usually an up tempo team, but tonight they had long possessions and still scored 73 points. We finally started playing better the last 10 minutes of the game, but were so far back that we didn’t have much opportunity to turn things around.”

JBU drops to 9-1 for the season and will come back home on Saturday to face Lyon College in a 6:00 pm contest.
