John Brown University Defeats Rhema Bible College
Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 2, 2003) - Junior Reyjavick De Gracia led John Brown University to a 77-53 win over Rhema Bible College Tuesday evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma. De Gracia scored 16 points and pulled down 6 rebounds in the winning effort. Freshman Adam Workman chipped in 13 points and 4 rebounds to aid in the victory. Sophomore Brandon Cole, with 4 baskets beyond the arc, contributed 12 points for the Golden Eagle effort. Although JBU jumped to a 6-0 lead during the first two minutes of play, Rhema fought back to tie the score several times in the first half. The Golden Eagles finally established consistency in their play to take a 34-22 lead to the locker room at half time.
“ We were able to take 4 days for Thanksgiving and this allowed our players a break that allowed us to get some needed rest. It was good to get a win on the road to begin a week that will end with two tough games at Park University on Thursday and Lyon College at home on Saturday,” stated Coach John Sheehy. “ The first half we did not get into the swing of things, but I felt that during the second half we were executing better offensively and only giving them one shot on the defensive end.”
JBU, the number 7 team in the NAIA polls, is now 9-0 for the non-conference season. The game time for the Lyon College game is 6:00 pm Saturday at Murray Sells gymnasium on the campus of John Brown University.
