(November 14, 2003) - (North Little Rock-AP) -- Increased tax breaks could help keep manufacturers from moving jobs out of the country, according to U-S Representative John Boozman. He says lowering the tax burden would allow companies to operate domestically and still be more competitive. The Republican discussed his views yesterday while speaking before the Associated General Contractors of America. Boozman says he is especially concerned about a Whirlpool announcement this week that it plans to move some of its refrigerator production from Fort Smith to a new plant in Mexico. The company hasn't said what the impact will be on the 45-hundred workers at the Fort Smith facility. Boozman describes the current tax system as archaic.
