JBU Volleyball Defeated by Arkansas Tech
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 10, 2003) - The Golden Suns came to Siloam Springs with revenge on their minds. After being defeated by JBU on their own court earlier in the year, Arkansas Tech evened the score on Monday night with a 3-1 win over the Golden Eagles. After three close games of 28-30, 30-25 and 28-30, JBU fell behind 12-19 in the fourth game and could never recover eventually losing 19-30.
“The first three games were close and could have gone either way,” said Coach Robyn Gordon following the contest. “We just didn’t get many breaks and let things get away from us in that fourth game. I thought we did play better tonight in the first three games than we have in the last few weeks.”
Senior Kemi Dowe, playing her last game in front of the home crowd, led the Golden Eagles in kills with 14 and digs with 25. Freshman Rachel Melby also led the team in two categories as she recorded 4 service aces and 38 assists. Junior Meghann Wharton was the block leader with 6.
JBU concluded their regular season with tonight’s loss compiling a season record of 20-16. The Golden Eagles will now play in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday at 11:00 AM against Lubbock Christian University. The 2003 SAC tournament is being played in Plainview, Texas at Wayland Baptist University.
