Room available in Rogers' year-round school
(November 11, 2003) — (Rogers-AP) -- There's plenty of space for students in Rogers whose parents would like them to take year-round classes. School district officials say they need to fill up a new school being built at Lowell to accommodate one thousand students, but so far parents have only signed up about 400. Officials hope to run a continuous learning program at the new school. But Superintendent Janie Darr says the district needs to fill the school to make it affordable to operate. Under the proposed calendar, students would begin classes in late July and complete a nine-week quarter before taking a three-week break. Students also would have holidays off as they do in the current calendar. During the breaks, students would be offered special enrichment classes or tutoring.
