Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 1, 2003) - In non-conference volleyball on Saturday afternoon in Siloam Springs, the Harding Bison got the best of JBU with wins in 3 straight games to take the match 3-0. Game one saw the Bison with a 30-17 win followed by a 30-19 and then 30-20 wins in the second and third games.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles with 11 kills was junior Meghann Wharton. Frosh Rachel Melby once again led the team in assists with 16. Wharton and junior Helen Gross each recorded 4 blocks and sophomore Christine Wells tallied 16 digs in the losing effort.
“A lack of consistency and lack of confidence were the biggest contributing factors to the way we played today. We have to be able to execute in every phase of the game to compete on the level with teams such as Harding” stated Coach Robyn Gordon following the loss. “Keeping the ball in play and making good decisions is a must for us to be in the win column.”
The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 20-14 for the season. JBU will travel to Southern Nazarene University for Sooner Athletic Conference play next Thursday, November 6 before returning home November 10 to play Arkansas Tech University for the last regular season match preceding the conference tournament.
