Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 31, 2003) - The JBU swim teams took on Hendrix College on Saturday, October 25 at the Hub White Pool on the JBU campus and came away with victories in both the men and women’s meet. For the women, JBU outscored Hendrix 134-92 while the men were outdistancing Hendrix 137-82. This was JBU’s second win in as many weeks against one loss.
Individual highlights for the Golden Eagles women include national qualifying times of 25.62 that Lindsey Smith swam in the 50 yard freestyle to go along with her 1:05.38 time in the 100 yard backstroke. Mariah Rose’s time of 2:07.84 in the 200 yard freestyle and Kathleen Kubricht’s 2:25.34 in the 200 yard individual medley also qualified for the nationals. Finally, for the women, the team of Jenny Brown, Smith, Kubricht and Stepahnie Burrell qualified for the national meet in the 200 yard freestyle relay with an excellent time of 1:46.84.
Highlighting the men’s competition was the 200 yard medley relay team of Luke Williams, Nik Hook, Josh Hughes and Marshall Gooding as they swam to a national qualifying time with 1:47.53.
JBU will travel to Hendrix this weekend for the Hendrix Invitational and Relay meet, an 8 team meet.
