Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 13, 2002) - As part of its ongoing Lyceum concert series, the John Brown University music department will host the Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet in concert. The concert will take place Sunday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. in the Jones Recital Hall on the campus of John Brown University. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet has performed nationally and internationally since 1975, including a successful debut in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1985. The members of the quintet- Valerie Watts (flute), Sally Faulconer (oboe), David Etheridge (clarinet), Carl Rath (bassoon) and Eldon Matlick (horn)- are each faculty members/artists at the University of Oklahoma. In 1989 they received critical acclaim for their performances at the Classical Music Seminar in Eisenstadt, Austria and the International Double Reed Society Convention in Manchester, England. The Quintet has also been featured on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today,” and on the Quintet’s 1990 CD recording A Christmas Delight! (Integra label).
