John Brown University Calms the Crimson Storm

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 11, 2003) — Scoring 3 goals in the first 23 minutes of play, the JBU Golden Eagle women’s soccer team scored an easy 4-1 Homecoming victory over the visiting Southern Nazarene University Crimson Storm. After only 3 minutes of play, senior Stephanie St. Clair scored the opening goal following an assist by frosh Tara Hachmeister. The Golden Eagles increased their lead to 3-0 with two goals by freshman Jaclyn Impson at the 29 minute and the 22 minute marks of the first half. Freshman Amber Aparicio and sophomore Brooke Williams assisted Impson on her two goals. Southern Nazarene’s only goal of the day came at the 14:30 point of the first half on a goal by Crystal Miller.

Rounding out the Golden Eagle onslaught, junior Kristin Snyder scored on a header off the assist by senior Danae Millard with only 2 minutes gone in the final period.

“It is nice to be back in the win column after the losses in California. Making it even better is that we are now 3-0 in the SAC and find ourselves at the top of the league. It is good to have some breathing room as we continue to move through the conference schedule,” stated Coach Joe Thoma following the victory.

With the win, JBU goes to 9-3 for the season and is 3-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The next action for the Golden Eagles is Wednesday, October 15, when another conference foe, USAO, comes to Siloam Springs. Game time is 1 pm.
