Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 22, 2003) - On a two-game trip to the Dallas area, the JBU Women’s Soccer team met their first defeat of the year. Northwood University defeated the Golden Eagles 6-5. Despite the loss, five JBU players contributed to the scoring against Northwood. Junior Kristin Synder of Rodgers opened the game with an unassisted goal. Freshman Nikki Ganter scored the second goal for the Golden Eagles followed by sophomore Brooke Williams’ goal off an assist by sophomore Christie Smeal. Smeal then scored the fourth goal for the Golden Eagles. Freshman Amber Aparicio rounded out the JBU scoring with an unassisted goal.
JBU then came back and defeated Texas Wesleyan, in their second game of the trip, by a score of 2-0. Williams opened the scoring against Texas Wesleyan on an assist by Smeal. Ganter scored the Golden Eagles final goal with an assist from freshman Rebecca Armstrong. Freshman Amy Menegaz came away with 5 saves in the game to protect the JBU lead.
JBU returns home this Saturday for their second Sooner Athletic Conference game. The 1 p.m. game is against Wayland Baptist University of Plainview, Texas. JBU is currently 7-1 for the season and 1-0 in SAC play.
