Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 18, 2003) - After a win at home on Tuesday evening, the Golden Eagle volleyball team made the trek to Russellville to play the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech. JBU fell behind in the opening two games as Tech defeated JBU by identical scores of 21-30. Facing a match defeat, the Golden Eagles rallied in the third game to defeat the Golden Suns 30-19 and went on to win the final two games 30-24 and 15-12. The victory upped the Golden Eagles season record to 12-4.
Junior Meghann Wharton led JBU with 15 kills and 10 blocks in the 5 game match. Senior Kemi Rogers contributed 33 digs and 4 service aces while freshman Rachel Melby continued to be the pace setter in assists with 35 for the evening.
JBU will now travel to Lubbock, Texas this weekend for their first Sooner Athletic Conference match with Lubbock Christian University, a team currently ranked number 17 in the NAIA national ranking. During the trip they will also face Wayland Baptist University in another SAC match and Houston Baptist University, currently number 9 in NAIA polls, in a non-conference match.
