John Brown University Men’s Soccer Enters NAIA Top 25
Siloam Springs, Ark (September 10, 2003) - Starting out the season 2 and 0 does have some benefits, and John Brown University men’s soccer team reaped those benefits on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles are ranked in the top NAIA top 25 for the first time this season. After not being ranked the previous week, the Golden Eagles received 76 votes to come in 21st this week. John Brown is one of two teams from the Sooner Athletic Conference, as well as NAIA region VI to be in the top 25. Southern Nazarene, located in Bethany Oklahoma, is ranked 12th with a record of 4 and 0. With convincing wins over Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and Harding University, the Golden Eagles have just allowed 1 goal in their first two games. NAIA Honorable Mention All American Pablo Fernandez has had 18 saves and has played all of the 180 minutes at goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles are led in scoring by Daniel Fleming and Kyle Carter with two goals apiece. Seth Hildebrant and Solomon Joe have contributed 1 goal each.
John Brown will be on the road this Saturday when they travel to Lyon College. Next week the Golden Eagles will be at home when they will host the 21st annual JBU Fall Classic. The Golden Eagles will play 14th ranked Bethel College of Indiana at 3:00 on Friday, and then they will take on Friends University of Kansas on Saturday at 3:00.
