Rankin, Miller, and Galliguez Claim Top Honors
Siloam Springs, Arkansas (April 11, 2012) — During the annual JBU Athletics Convocation, which took place on Wednesday night, senior men’s basketball player Adrian Miller and senior volleyball player Allie Rankin were named the Outstanding Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
Miller, who guided his team to a 24-9 record and return trip to the NAIA National Tournament, earned Second Team All-American honors and First Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors after leading the team in scoring (14.6 ppg), assists (3.52 apg), and steals (1.39 spg) this season. He also finished 13th in the country in field goal percentage, knocking down an incredible 59.2% from the floor. He was named SAC Player of the Week twice during his senior season and guided his team to the best regular season finish in school history.
Rankin, meanwhile, guided her team to an 18-16 overall record, while earning First Team All-SAC honors. She led her team in hitting percentage, while contributing 341 kills, 104 blocks and a total of 401 points for the year. Rankin was also named an NAIA Scholar Athlete again this year – posting a 3.7 cumulative GPA.
Rankin also took home the Female Champions of Character Award, while men’s basketball player Thomas Galliguez was the Male Champions of Character Award winner
The Champions of Character Award goes to the top male and female student-athletes that best portray the NAIA’s five core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship throughout the school year.
