Men face Bulldogs in opening round of National Tourney
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 7, 2012) — The John Brown University men's basketball team will face Montana Western during the first round of the 75th Annual NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship to be held in Kansas City, Mo. March 14-20. The game time is scheduled for Thursday, March 15, at 2:15 p.m.
The Golden Eagles enter the tournament at 24-8 and will play as the No. 13 seed. This will be John Brown’s sixth trip to the national tournament. In 2010, the JBU men made it to the quarterfinal round, and in 2005, JBU won the national title, making them one of seven teams in this year’s tournament to have won a national championship. JBU’s overall tournament record is 9-4.
The unseeded Bulldogs of Montana Western (24-9) are making their 10th appearance in Kansas City with their last trip coming in 2011. The most recent NAIA coaches poll had the Bulldogs ranked at 20th in the nation. They are 3-9 all-time in national tournament games.
