Eight Bands Compete for Recording Contract at JBU’s “Next Big Thing”
Siloam Springs, Arkansas (March 6, 2012) - John Brown University students once again have the chance to display their musical talent by competing in “The Next Big Thing,” a battle-of-the-bands style competition held March 10. The event will bring eight student bands together to compete for a chance to win a recording contract worth $2000. Bands competing for this year’s prize were selected after an audition process held in the fall. This is the second year for the competition.
Last year’s winner of the “Next Big Thing,” Kacie Williams, recently released her album “Til I'm With You” and will be performing during this year’s show. The album debuted at #17 on the iTunes singer/songwriter charts. Recently, Kacie has written and recorded with artists Robbie Seay, Madi Diaz and Alli Rogers.
The panel of judges for the 2012 event include Brittany Hargest, solo recording artist and former member of pop supergroup Jump5; Jon Sell, manager of national promotions at Centricity Music and Jen Edwards, instructor of worship ministries at JBU.
“The Next Big Thing” starts at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Cathedral of the Ozarks on the campus of John Brown University. General Admission is $7. Tickets can be reserved on Facebook.com/BLUEjbu or purchased at the door on March 10.
