Siloam Springs, Arkansas (February 27, 2012) - Senior Adrian Miller leads the group of JBU All-Conference honorees after picking up First Team All-SAC honors on Monday. Senior Andy Garcia earned Third Team honors. And juniors Abel Galliguez and Coleson Rakestraw were Honorable Mentions.
OBU guard Emmanuel Wilson and USAO post Kyle Hunt are this season’s Co-Players of the Year. Wilson led the top-ranked Bison in scoring at 17.1 points per game. Hunt averaged 18 points and a conference-best 10.6 rebounds per game.
Bison Coach Doug Tolin led OBU to a No. 1 ranking and won the conference title by four games with an overall 26-3 record to earn Coach of the Year honors.
Hunt is also Newcomer of the Year while teammate Benjamin Berry, who averaged eight points per game, is Freshman of the Year.
OBU’s Derick Echols, who averaged 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocked shots, shares Defensive Player of the Year honors with Northwestern’s Thiago Guilherme. Guilherme led the Rangers with 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals.
Brandon Jackson of St. Gregory’s and Jon West of Southern Nazarene share the Sportsmanship Award.
Wilson, Hunt, Adrian Miller of John Brown, Will Reinke of Oklahoma Christian, Rashad Sample of Lubbock Christian and Kendrell Thompson of Rogers State make up the First Team.
OBU’s DeAngelo McIntosh, Charlie Shorter of Mid-America Christian, West, Fayzon Richey of St. Gregory’s, Ryan Aaron of SNU and Orlan Jackman of Oklahoma City are on the Second Team.
The Third Team is Jonathan Freemyer of Northwestern, Andy Garcia of John Brown, Donald Williams of Rogers State, Bobby Watkins of Wayland Baptist, Douglas Williams of Lubbock Christian and Daryl Glover of NWOSU.
