Siloam Springs, Arkansas (December 10, 2011) - The 20th ranked Golden Eagles of JBU gave up a 67-62 decision to 6th ranked Rogers State (Okla.) on Saturday evening in a hard fought battle in Claremore.
With the loss, JBU falls to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Senior Adrian Miller paced JBU with 22 points and junior EJ McWoods dropped in 14.
For RSU (8-0, 4-0) Donald Williams and Kenny Edwards led the Hillcats finishing with 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Golden Eagles led most of the first half, but gave up the lead after a bucket from A.J. Stewart with 5:32 remaining in the half. At halftime, JBU only found themselves down by two after a trey from McWoods brought the score to 26-24 before the break.
In the second half, RSU built a 10 point, 41-31, lead with 13:43 to go in the contest. But the Golden Eagles put a together a 15-4 run capped off with a three from junior Coleson Rakestraw to gain their first lead of the second half at 46-44 with 8:41 to go.
After a final tie up at 50 a piece with 6:04 remaining, RSU regained the lead for the final time and managed to keep JBU at bay to hold on for the win.
For the game, JBU hit 42.1 percent (24-of-57), while holding RSU to 36.5 percent (19-of-52). JBU dominated the boards 43-28, but committed 22 turnovers while forcing only 12.
The men return to action on Saturday, Dec. 31 when they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to take on the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist at 5 p.m. The Bison are currently ranked third in the country.
