The JBU women's basketball team beat Ecclesia (Ark.) 79-53 in their home opener, moving them to 2-2 overall.
Sophomore Jessica Berlin led JBU with 19 points followed by freshman Lauren Rogers with 17. Sophomores Kortni Barenberg and Sierra Shipley added 10 a piece.
For EC (1-6), senior Ashton Abshier finished with 32 points and 11 boards.
JBU started the match going back and forth with EC before taking a final lead after a 5-0 run eight minutes into the game. The Lady Eagles closed the first half ahead, 36-22.
In the second half, JBU continued their hot shooting streak and extended their lead to as many as 36 before cruising to the 26 point win.
For the game, JBU shot 40 percent (24-60) from the floor, while holding EC to 32.7 percent (18-55). Both teams had 41 rebounds.
The ladies take the court again tomorrow against Southwest Assemblies of God (Texas) at 3 p.m. in the Bill George Arena.
